Styrian Summer Art: Expressive storytelling - Acrylic painting | Jay Finger
General Information
Workshop Description:
We want to narrate a story through painting, allowing plenty of room for interpretation, so that viewers can find their own meanings.
We start with the atmosphere: Where should the story begin? Who or what is it about? As we embark on this journey together, do we already have a destination in mind?
We will use photos and newspaper clippings as a starting point, as well as personal contributions or materials from the artist's collection. These will be spontaneously transformed with acrylic paints into generous, expressive compositions to suggest a story. A willingness to take risks in abstraction is required, and the aim is to discover and let flow one's own visual language, rather than creating a photorealistic representation.
"As your course leader, I will guide you by providing general advice on composition, color choice, and technique."
Here are photos from the Studio Class 2025!
