General Information
Workshop Description:
Inspired by the art of Joseph Cornell, we create miniature installations, assemblages, and "cabinets of wonder" by staging a variety of objects (small finds from nature, collectibles, personal memorabilia, paper, and much more) in boxes or other suitable containers.
Small objects emerge that tell a story, express a mood, or hold a secret. We engage with the selection of items, their meaning, and arrangement in the work, while also allowing space for intuition and chance. No prior knowledge is required for this course.
Please bring:
If available, old and used:
- Found and collected items from your collection
(e.g., snail shells, stones, photos, keys, game pieces, buttons, maps, images, books, etc.) - Boxes (e.g., matchboxes, cigarette tins, cigar boxes, metal boxes, sturdier cardboard boxes, etc.)
- Scissors, cutter, cutting mat or thicker cardboard,
- Ruler, all-purpose glue, pens (as preferred), wire, thread, twine, packing string
The Artist:
Erna Doris Kaltenegger, born in 1960 in Fürstenfeld.
Training in tourism and tourism management, alongside employment, and a continuous passionate and creative engagement with materials and craftsmanship to this day.
Intensive involvement with painting and drawing since 2004.
Regular further education at the Art Academy Bad Reichenhall in the fields of
- Painting and drawing (Richard Allgaier, Stefan Wehmeier, Matthias Kroth, Andrea Rozorea, Alex Bär, Jupp Linssen)
- Collage (Angelika Trojnarski)
- Woodcut (Christofer Kochs)
- Wire and paper (Elisabeth Bader)
Diploma from the master class in jewelry and metal design at the Ortweinschule Graz.
