Eastern Styria

Welcome

From the 1,700-metre-high mountains of Hochlantsch and Hochwechsel to the Pannonian Plain, Eastern Styria offers impressive scenic and cultural diversity – shaped by climate, vegetation and a long history.

Nature provides a rich cornucopia here: fruit, wine, grain, vegetables, herbs and flowers thrive all year round on alpine pastures, fields and in forests. These landscapes and cultural areas combine to form a region full of life, enjoyment and inspiration – a place where you can recharge your batteries and feel the beauty of the moment. In short: simply precious.

Culture

Exceptional exhibitions and impressive cultural treasures demonstrate the diversity of art and culture in Eastern Styria. In addition to varied cultural programmes and interesting excursion destinations, there are many opportunities to get to know the customs, country and people better.

Culinary

The region’s products are as diverse as Eastern Styria itself. ALMO, Hirschbirne pears and apples are just a few of the products that distinguish the region's cuisine. Eating and drinking in Eastern Styria are not just basic needs, but are considered a true pleasure for all the senses.

Motion

In Eastern Styria, there are opportunities to be active and enjoy nature 365 days a year. In the warmer months, hiking and cycling tours through the blossoming countryside beckon, while in winter, excellent skiing and cross-country skiing areas offer families fun in the snow.

Our two Nature parks

Our farmers in the Pöllauer Tal Nature Park and Almenland Nature Park preserve the cultivated landscape with the help of cattle, sheep and horses. The goal of both nature parks is to preserve the diversity of this landscape through natural use.
