Styrian SumSketch & Bike – Experiencing the Landscape Artistically| Klaus Zimmer
General Information
Sport & Art: Graphic and painterly design in special places along selected bike routes in the Pöllauer Tal Nature Park
The artistic creation is the focus. The interplay between movement, visual and cognitive perception, places of calm, and artistic development is intended to accompany us harmoniously yet purposefully for three days.
We will be exploring the surroundings of Pöllau on E-bikes, allowing us to conserve our physical energy for artistic creation. Our studio is nature, consisting of places we can only reach by bike. The landscape around us offers a selection of motifs, along with the experience of shared movement and the impressions we gather along the way.
Back in the studio space or on our bike routes, we will draw, stick, collage, photograph, or write as freely and relaxed as possible, using materials brought along or whatever we find at the location.
Depending on our wishes and needs, we will cover several stages. The movement and physical activity provide us with new perspectives and free us for always new creative approaches in shaping our work. Our goal is not the detailed image, but the sketchy processing of inner and outer impressions.
The discussion of the routes takes place at the beginning of each day. There will be an input on basic riding techniques. At the individual stage destinations, we will talk about artistic practice and the different techniques we want to try or expand. Each person chooses their selection, preferably in collaboration with the artist.
In addition to the necessary drawing tools, appropriate cycling equipment is also required: helmet and bike backpack are absolutely necessary, those who wish can bring cycling gloves, jersey, rain jacket, glasses, and possibly pads.
