Styria's summer cable cars

Get on, and you're off to mountains full of adventures – thanks to many cable cars and lifts in the green heart of Austria. In winter, the mountain railways provide access to countless slopes, varied snowshoeing routes, and tobogganing runs. But the cable cars and lifts don't stand still in summer either.

Especially on warm, sunny days, they are a comfortable way to access the beautiful mountain world of the alpine regions of Styria. Whether you take the cable car or chairlift: Once at the top, magnificent views and hiking trails are waiting for all summer visitors who like to take things a little easier. On some mountains, adventure trails and playgrounds invite little guests to romp around and have some fun.

The Schöckl cable car, the Dachstein glacier cable car and the cable cars up to Hauser Kaibling, Turracher Höhe, Planai, Riesneralm and Mariazeller Bürgeralpe have all been awarded the "Best Austrian Summer Mountain Railways" seal of quality several times.

Summer cable cars & lifts – an easy way to experience more

Thanks to the summer mountain railways, hiking tours can be shortened when necessary. At the same time, the lifts and cable cars extend the range of possibilities for diverse adventures in the mountains. Hikers who prefer leisurely tours with little elevation gain can enjoy the feeling of "conquering" a summit, for instance. And the same goes for mountain bikers – thanks to the transport options at many cable cars and lifts.

A tip for the Schladming-Dachstein region: Ride your bike to the bike & hike stations at the valley stations of the cable cars and lifts. From there, you can continue your tour up in the mountains.

Listen up, families: Offers such as the Hopsiland on the Planai, the junior MTB trails on Reiteralm, the tierHOLZpark and the "Gipfelbad anno dazumal" on Riesneralm ensure unforgettable experiences for all family members. And that's not all: The Dachstein glacier with its Ice Palace, Sky Walk, suspension bridge or the Stairway to Nothingness boasts plenty of exciting adventures, too.

By the way: With the Schladming-Dachstein Region Sommercard, visitors can use the summer cable cars and lifts free of charge.
