On the Hödlmoser trail

Follow in the footsteps of Mr. Hödlmoser on a short hike to the Stoxreiter cider tavern in the Murtal adventure region. The life and doings of Mr. Hödlmoser are explained on the basis of display boards.

With a lot of love, the display boards were erected by a project class of the HLW-Fohnsdorf in the adventure region Murtal a few years ago. The small Barbara Chapel in front of the Hödlmoserhof was inaugurated in 2013. This great, short hike is also an experience with children and you can then enjoy yourself at the Mostschenke Stoxreiter.

Your journey from:

VIENNA (approx. 2 hours)

Take the A2 to the Seebenstein junction, direction S6 Semmering. Follow the Murtalschnellstraße S36 to the Judenburg Ost exit. Turn right towards Hetzendorf on the L516 (Judenburger Straße). Follow the road signs to Fohnsdorf Hauptplatz.

LINZ (approx. 2 hours)

Take the A1 in the direction of Salzburg. In Sattledt change to the A9 towards Graz as far as the St. Michael i.O. junction. Continue on the Murtalschnellstraße S36 towards Klagenfurt until the Judenburg Ost exit. Turn right towards Hetzendorf on the L516 (Judenburger Straße). Follow the road signs to Fohnsdorf Hauptplatz.

SALZBURG (approx. 2 hours)

At Salzburg Nord take the A1 towards Linz Wien, at the Voralpenkreuz junction take the A9 towards Graz as far as the St. Michael i.O. junction. Continue on the Murtalschnellstraße S36 to the Judenburg Ost exit. Turn right towards Hetzendorf on the L516 (Judenburger Straße). Follow the road signs to Fohnsdorf Hauptplatz.

KLAGENFURT (approx. 1 hour)

Klagenfurt Ost onto the A2 towards Graz Wolfsberg. Exit Bad St. Leonhard onto the Obdacher Bundesstraße B78 in the direction of Zeltweg. Take the Zeltweg bypass onto the S36, direction Klagenfurt, after approx. 2.5 km take the Judenburg Ost exit. Turn right towards Hetzendorf on the L516 (Judenburger Straße). Follow the road signs to Fohnsdorf Hauptplatz.

MURAU (approx. 1/2 hour)

Follow the Murtal Bundesstraße B96 in the direction of Scheifling. Turn left onto the Friesacher Bundesstraße B317 towards Judenburg. Follow the Murtalschnellstraße S36 to the Judenburg Ost exit. Turn right towards Hetzendorf on the L516 (Judenburger Straße). Follow the road signs to Fohnsdorf Hauptplatz.

This hike is best started at the main square. Along Schulgasse - Bergmanngasse - Hochwiesenweg - Hangweg you reach the starting point of the Hödlmoserweg. Leave the open-cast mine in Antoni behind you on the left and walk leisurely along a meadow path in the direction of the Mostschenke Stoxreiter. After about 30 minutes of walking you will arrive at the Hödlmoserhof, where you will find the 1st information board. There are a total of 8 boards along the path, which show a brief insight into the history of the novel character Hödlmoser. After another half hour, you reach the destination of the hiking trail, the Mostschenke Stoxreiter, where you can indulge in homemade delicacies.

Take the time to experience the life and goings-on of the Hödlmosers on the display boards! Please note the opening hours of the Mostschenke.

If you prefer a circular hike, you can continue from the Fohnsdorfer Hütte over the ridge in the direction of Hammerleck and descend via the vlg. Gstättner farm and descend to Fohnsdorf Tour 2a.
