Get to know the snowshoe region of the Murtal!

Snowshoeing

There's a very special way of experiencing winter in the mountains ‒ one's that's perfect for anyone wishing to enjoy the freedom and stillness of the mountains outside of summer as well.

The 'slow food' of winter sport is the new trend of snowshoeing. Moving with a light tread, you will experience the splendour and natural beauty of fairy tale winter landscapes in the heart of Styria. We strap on our snowshoes and head out into the mountains and into the depths of our own soul. And where better to do so than in the midst of the Green Heart of Austria ‒ in the Murtal in Styria.

Just a few years ago, snowshoeing wasn't taken particularly seriously. Now, however, it has become a sport that offers people the chance to explore the mountains and forests in winter too. Away from the world of aprés ski and the slopes, we can experience winter at close quarters, strike out into the great outdoors and delight in the snow. The big advantage is that anyone who can hike can also go snowshoeing. Of course, it's important to bear a few things in mind to be able to enjoy snowshoeing properly: the right technique, the right choice of route or tour, and how we engage with nature.

On the right way!
