The hike takes us from Birkfeld towards Miesenbach with easy ups and downs along the Miesenbach.Provides the right refreshment in the summer!

More information

Arrival from Vienna: A2 to Hartberg, B54 direction Graz until junction Pöllau, Birkfeld. After Pöllau turn left to Birkfeld about 15 km.

Coming from Graz: A2 to Gleisdorf exit, B64 direction Weiz. At the traffic circle before Weiz, take the B72 towards Anger, Birkfeld. From Weiz approx. 25 km.

Coming from Salzburg: S6 via Bruck, Kapfenberg to the Allerheiligen im Mürztal exit. Immediately after the exit, turn right towards Fischbach, Birkfeld. Approx. 35 km via Schanzsattel to Birkfeld.

  • We start at the train station in Birkfeld and follow the brown signs "Klammweg".
  • First we walk along the sidewalk for about 400 m in the direction of Miesenbach.
  • At the end of the sidewalk we cross the highway L 405 in the area of the traffic playground.
  • After another 200 m we reach the first wooden bridge to cross the Miesenbach stream.
  • After about 10 minutes we reach the place "Rast am Wasser".
  • Along the path we come to the first three fords - danger of slipping
  • We reach the main road again
  • We pass under the bridge of the national road
  • We continue over the second wooden bridge, past the rocks to the third wooden bridge
  • There is the second ford
  • We walk a short distance in the forest
  • After that we go through a bridge again and come to the third ford stones
  • After the fourth bridge we cross a young forest
  • After about 100 m along the national road we turn right
  • Crossing the meadow we come to the fifth wooden bridge
  • After the forest we cross a meadow to the municipal road
  • At a small brook we reach the municipal border Birkfeld-Miesenbach
  • We walk past the giant trees up into the high forest
  • Through the forest, on forest roads and a path we walk towards the center of Miesenbach.
  • Along the meadow we turn left over a bridge and then immediately right
  • From the Finster bridge we continue along the water path to the Hornschmied mill and to our destination, the center of Miesenbach
In summer we can find here a refreshing cooling.
