    Cycling in the Eastern Styria? Definitely! Cycling in Austria’s garden can be challenging but most of all enjoyable. Experience the Eastern Styria at your own pace – there is lots to see. 

    For the adventure region of Eastern Styria, a positive development on the subject of cycling is a priority. A number of steps have been taken to ensure that guests and cycling enthusiasts gain even more enjoyment from cycling in the garden of Austria.

    The bike map shines in a new design and has been completely revised and accordingly the signs on the bike paths have been adapted.

    New rental points for e-bikes have been created.

    On June 1, 2024, the Styrian Wexltrails were opened and now present, among other things, their newly built centerpiece:
    A continuous trail from the Schutzhaus am Hochwechsel to the Vorauer Schwaig.

    Trails & pumptracks & BMX-tracks

    Trails are routes integrated into nature - pump tracks are artificially created, course-like cycling routes - BMX is called Bicycle Motocross and is a sport that is practiced on bicycles with a small frame and 20-inch wheels.

    In the Eastern Styria adventure region, family-friendly trails and pump tracks await as fun routes for beginners, advanced riders, ladies, seniors, kids and of course all other spirited cyclists.

    Bed & bike

    Travelling with your own bicycle demands special accommodations. The Bed&Bike operations offer exactly that: A one-night stay when you are on a tour, a locked room to park the bicycles or to dry clothing, or the loan of tools are just some of the criteria met by these accommodations. They are certified by the ADFC (Allgemeiner Deutscher Fahrrad-Club).

    Hybridcup Oststeiermark: Virtual and real bike race

    In cooperation with Ride4Hope, the adventure region Eastern Styria is holding a hybrid cup for cyclists. This is a bike race that takes place both virtually and in real life. The Hybridcup Eastern Styria is all about a good cause, because the profit from the entry fees will be donated to the Ö3 Christmas Miracle.

    • only possible after advance booking (050 36 37 38 or online)
    • Two-wheeled, single-seater bicycles, pedelecs and e-bikes (length up to 2 metres up to a total weight of 40 kg excluding bike carrier and 50 kg including bike carrier) are accepted.
    • Special bicycle constructions (e.g. tandem, bicycles with trailers, etc.) are not transported.
    • Further information on liability and costs can be found on the SAM website.

    Feistritztal cycling route

     

    A bicycle tour along former rail lines can be described as highly romantic and nostalgic. The route features dense, lush, green forests in the woodland home of Styria’s poet Peter Rosegger, passing through the untouched, impressive Feistritztalklamm ravine and the colourful Apfelland to the Steiermark volcanic and adventure region.

    Der grosse jogl

     

    The 187-kilometre mountain bike trail “Der große Jogl” circles the Joglland – Waldheimat region along various roads, streets and trails. Many places like the Hochwechsel or Masenberg feature fantastic views, others like the Trail Land have special additional offers for cyclists.

    Starting from Hartberg, the round trip of around 65 km passes through beautiful landscapes with numerous culinary establishments and shopping opportunities such as farm stores.
