Forest and Bee educational trail

Open

The family-friendly hiking trail in the Almenland Nature Park in Styria starts directly in Passail, leads up to the Lindenberg and past the Kreiner Almenland beekeeping farm.

The trail leads from the center of Passail up to the Lindenberg, a large entry board describes the course of the trail. The elaborately designed display boards offer interesting information on the following topics for every nature lover along the way:

  • Functions and trees of the forest,
  • economic importance of the forest,
  • bees and ants, their life and close relationship,
  • mosses, lichens and ferns in the forest- animals of the forest.

The way back then leads past the Almenland beekeeping Kreiner, in the courtyard there are more illustrative objects about the bees waiting for you. Karl Kreiner also offers guided tours and tastings, in the Hofladen you can then also immediately buy the honey supply for home.

The Lindenberg Church is also worth a detour. In front of the church, which is over 500 years old, benches with a wonderful view await visitors under the mighty linden trees. Right next to it are the Lindenbergstub'n, which invite you to stop for a bite to eat.

More information

  • via the A2 to Gleisdorf, continue on the B64 via Weiz to Passail
  • via the A9 or the S35 to the exit "Frohnleiten Süd", then in the direction of "Weiz" via Rechberg on the B64 to Passail

To Google Maps for the calculation of the journey.

  • We start at the main square of Passail and walk past the shopping center Reisinger (here you can still buy provisions) in the direction of Fladnitz.
  • Shortly after the parish church we go right up the road in the direction of "Lindenberg".
  • After about 50 m you will find the entrance to the nature trail on the right, a large entrance sign describes the course of the trail.
  • It goes uphill to the "Schießhütte", a little house with a view of Passail.- We continue through the forest on a comfortable forest path to the bee hut. In the freely accessible hut the life and the use of the bees is told.
  • Now we have soon reached the highest point of the trail, at the asphalt road we turn left down and walk to the Almenland beekeeping Kreiner.
  • We continue in the direction of Passail, on the left a short path leads up to the Lindenberg church. A "detour" is worthwhile in any case, the view is magnificent!
  • The path continues past the entrance again and ends at the main square in Passail.

Directly at the market place in Passail, Anita Haramia cooks the best dumplings far and wide, a visit to the "Knödelzeit" is highly recommended!
