The hiking route through the picturesque Wechselland herb region stretches from St. Lorenzen am Wechsel to the Glatzl Trahütten Alm and impresses with its enchanting views and historical origins.
The starting point of this hike is in the center of St. Lorenzen am Wechsel, where the Aerosolium open-air inhalatorium is also located. At this station, brine drips down over fir brushwood and absorbs aromatic resins and essential oils. When inhaled, the fine aerosols reach the alveoli in the lungs and have numerous positive effects. The highlight of this hike is undoubtedly the Glatzl Trahütte, which not only offers delicious food but also an impressive view.

Directions - by car
- via the Südautobahn (A2) to the Pinggau exit
- at the traffic circle take the 3rd exit
- along the B54 in the direction of Graz/Hartberg
- exit St. Lorenzen am Wechsel
- keep right
- turn left at the next junction
- drive under the bridge
- turn left towards St. Lorenzen am Wechsel
- drive along the L426
The hike is mainly along forest paths and trails. In between, pay close attention to the markings, as the route is not clear.
- start is the village square in St. Lorenzen am Wechsel
- past the church
- follow the road uphill to the sports field
- straight ahead in the direction of Vorauer Schwaig or Glatzl Trahütten Alp on trail 936
- after a short time, turn right
- short stop at the stations of the Wechsellandparcour
- the hiking trail leads continuously uphill to the tollgate
- walk through the forest on the hiking trail in the direction of Vorauer Schwaig until you reach a forest road
- follow the forest road to the right
- until you reach a crossroads and the Thalberger Schwaig waypoint
- from this waypoint, the trail leads to the Glatzl-Trahütte-Alm
- the path is now almost flat, past an overlong wooden resting bench, until the entrance to the path to the Glatzl-Trahütten-Alm
- can be seen on the left-hand side
- shortly downhill to the access road to the hut
- after a leisurely break, return to the Thalberger Schwaig waypoint
- then turn left onto trail 927 in the direction of Friedberg
- TIP: At a fenced-in feeding station, a path leads off to the right to a beautiful viewing point!
- continue downhill along the path, past the weather crosses and a few houses until you reach an asphalt road
- turn right there and continue slightly uphill along the asphalt road
- until you see a junction on the left towards Burgfeld and St. Lorenzen
- downhill through the forest
- pass a crossroads, a short stretch across a meadow and then you will find the new entrance to the forest
- continue downhill through the forest and along the edge of the forest on the right
- until you reach the asphalt road or the crossroads Sam-Stationen HF4810
- follow the signs in the direction of St. Lorenzen with trail 936 and 07A
- along the asphalt road to the Höllerhof farm
- continue along the asphalt road through the populated area of Auerbach until you reach the last farm
- then left on a gravel road to the sports field
- downhill to the center of St. Lorenzen am Wechsel
- During your hike, we recommend you stop off at the Glatzl Trahütten Alm. Here you can not only recharge your batteries, but also enjoy regional delicacies. The Glatzl Trahütten Alm, situated at almost 1300m above sea level, offers its guests a breathtaking panorama. The view extends from the Hochwechsel over the Murtal Alps to the Hochlantsch, the Teichalm, the Schöckl and further over the Koralm to the Slovenian mountains and back again over the Masenberg and the entire Joglland, making your visit an unforgettable experience.

- At the end of the hike, we recommend a visit to the Aerosolium open-air inhalatorium right in the center of St. Lorenzen am Wechsel.
