Every year on the Sunday before Christmas Eve, the traditional winter solstice hike takes place in Fischbach. The destination of the hike is the legendary Devil's Stone, where the devil wanted to build a tower in the sky. During this fantastic natural spectacle at the solstice, the region shows its most beautiful side in the Advent season and gets in the mood for Christmas.
In Eastern Styria, numerous St. Nicholas celebrations, Kramups and Perchten runs take place every year to ring in the pre-Christmas season. Saint Nicholas is traditionally accompanied in Austria's garden by Krampussen, scary figures with horns, fur suits, carved masks, cowbells and long rods.
This year, around 250,000 LEDs, over 200 acrylic figures and over 100 self-inflating figures will amaze visitors at the Christmas Wonderland in Pöllau. In addition to mulled wine, children's punch and other drinks, visitors will also be offered Austria's tallest figure at 10 metres high. The Christmas Wonderland is open from 19 November to 8 January 2023, daily from 4.30 - 10 pm.
