Pilgrimage Church Pöllauberg

Pöllauberg

Visit the Pöllauberg pilgrimage church in the Pöllauer Tal nature park.

Maria, the mother of God, has been worshiped on the Pöllauberg for centuries. This pilgrimage church, founded by Katharina von Stubenberg, is one of the most magnificent High Gothic churches in all of Styria.

The spacious church building was completed at the end of the 14th century. The Gothic bell tower was replaced by a new building in 1678, the tower dome was not built until 1744. In 1705 a new sacristy and a few years later two side chapels were added.

Discover many secrets in a guided tour and find out, for example, what our church has in common with St. Stephen's Cathedral in Vienna or what exactly is hidden behind the altar.
