On the THEO stage in Oberzeiring you can see the play "How to date a Feminist", a comedy by Samantha Ellis
In Shakespeare's time, hostile family homes stood in the way of lovers. Nowadays, however, it is rigid ideologies and prejudices that get in the way of happiness in love. Romeo and Juliet become Robin Hood and Wonder Woman, or at least that's how Kate and Steav meet at a costume party. Steve is a staunch feminist, while Kate is more of a macho type. Instead of an engagement ring, a sincere apology for the patriarchy follows after they get down on one knee. But that's not contradictory enough: an emancipated political activist meets a Jewish-religious conservative - the parents of the lovers. Although their differences seem irreconcilable, the plus and minus poles attract each other all the more. And to make the whole love spectacle even more complex, the ex-girlfriends also get involved.
All these facets are embodied by just two players. Following a successful world premiere at London's Off-West End, THEO is now presenting the Styrian premiere of Samantha Ellis' comedy.
