Directions
Recharge your batteries for everyday life.

The tour starts in the traditional Biedermeier spa town of Bad Gleichenberg and leads "on level ground" towards the south. Past blooming meadows, dreamy farms and horse pastures, you will reach the first power station after about 6 km, the Weinhandlmühle in Dirnbach, where the famous Styrian pumpkin seed oil is produced according to ancient tradition.

You are also in the middle of the unique Blauracken area. Stop, enjoy nature and go birdwatching - you might spot a Coracias garrulus, a European Roller. Nearly extinct, blue rollers have been increasingly visible here again for several years.

Pausing and recharging your batteries are closely connected, the geomantic power spot a few meters further on, almost invites you to stop. A little later you will see the 4 churches of Straden, pardon, only 3 are visible, because one church is underground.

Sporty cyclists are recommended to make a detour to the Himmelsberg, you will be rewarded with a magnificent panoramic view of the Gleichenberg valley. The tour continues to Johannisbrunn, where 15 million years ago volcanoes laid the foundation for the famous healing water, the Gleichenberg Johannisbrunnen. Now it becomes culinary: Already from a distance you can see the territory of the Mangalitza pigs, called woolly pigs. At the Krispel wine farm you can taste the specialties of the woolly pig.

Culinary powers

And now your strength is needed, a short climb takes you to the vineyards of the Rosenberg. At the top you will enjoy an indescribable panoramic view all the way to Slovenia. At the latest now you have earned a refreshment. Fine Styrian wines and regional delicacies await you at the Buschenschank Neubauer. After the refreshment it goes downhill. At the intersection Straden-Bad Gleichenberg there is still the possibility at the "Hofladen Hirschmann" to stock up with products of the region. Over the "Kaargebirge" it goes back. At the "Steira Wirt" in Trautmannsdorf you will be spoiled with culinary delights by the "Haubenkoch" Richard Rauch or you can enjoy a wine tasting at the "Weingut Leitgeb" before returning to Bad Gleichenberg.

More information

From Graz or Vienna: Via the A2 Südautobahn - Ilz exit via Riegersburg and Feldbach to Bad Gleichenberg or via the Gleisdorf-Süd exit to Feldbach and Bad Gleichenberg.

Detailed information on how to get there can be found here.
