A pleasant circular walk from the centre of Gasen in the Almenland Nature Park in Styria to the Schreinhofer Mill.

Der Weg führt vom Ortszentrum Gasen hinaus bis zur Schreinhofer-Mühle mit dem größten, noch intakten Mühlrad Österreichs. Für Gruppen und gegen Voranmeldung wird in der Mühlenschenke auch ausgeschenkt und der original Brennsterz gemacht.

Der Weg ist für die ganze Familie geeignet - auch mit Hund, da man nicht direkt auf Weidevieh trifft.

Der Weg führt vorbei am "Troadkostn", wo im Advent die lebensgroßen, geschnitzten Krippenfiguren bewundert werden können und an der Pfarrkirche, die gleich zwei Patrone hat: der Hl. Oswald ist ein vielverehrter Viehpatron und deutet auf die landwirtschaftliche Nutzung der Gegend hin, während die Hl. Barbara als Schutzfrau der Bergleute auf den Bergbau in früheren Tagen verweist. Bis ins 19. Jahrhundert wurde rund um Gasen Eisenerz, Gold, Silber und Arsen abgebaut.

Unterwegs warten schöne Ausblicke und das eine oder andere Rastbankerl auf die Wanderer, frische Bergluft, Vogelgezwitscher und weiche Waldböden sind die Zugabe.

Zurück im Ort laden die Gasener Wirte zu einer gemütlichen Einkehr ein!

We start at the entrance to the parish church, pass the "Troadkostn" and head out to the right along the forest road.
After about 500 metres we come to a barrier, which we bypass.
We now go uphill and soon after the bend we reach a bench with a beautiful view of the Gasner sports field.
We continue slightly uphill, after about 1 kilometre we come to a crossroads.
Continue left along the forest path.
ATTENTION: If you want to hike up to the Plankogel summit cross (approx. 1 hour), take the right path.
From now on we hike comfortably downhill, cross the "Stoakogler Heimatwanderweg" and follow the "Waldweg zur Mühle" and soon reach the "Runden Tisch".
Past the farm of the mill owners, we walk down another 500 metres along the asphalt road to the mill.
The path leads back up to the "Round Table", where the people of Gasen have immortalised themselves with sayings.
Now we follow the path "Dorf Gasen" and after about 1 kilometre we reach the parish church.
A few more metres down and we are back in the centre of Gasen.

The Stoanihaus is not only home to a much-visited music school, but also to an exhibition on the 40 years of activity of the popular "Stoakogler"!
