Stage 1: From Baden to Bad Erlach in the Bucklige Welt

In Baden near Vienna, relaxation and enjoyment are on the agenda. The spa town on the edge of the Vienna Woods already enchanted the emperor and was already considered a refuge for those seeking peace and quiet by the ancient Romans. From here you will dive into the EuroVelo 9 experience. You will pass Wiener Neustadt and already find the next thermal resort in Bad Erlach. In the Asiatherme Lindsberg in the Buckligen Welt you can recover from a sporty cycling day and experience Far Eastern flair.
Stage 2: Along the Vienna Alps to Mönichkirchen
Length: 39 km
The beautiful EuroVelo 9 cycle path continues through the Vienna Alps from Bad Erlach to Mönichkirchen. A great sight on this day tour is Seebenstein Castle and the Türkensturz ruins. After a scenic break in the historic walls, you cycle on to Mönichkirchen with a view of the Vienna Alps. The traditional village on the southeastern slope of the Wechsel invites you to many hikes and is also a popular place for cyclists to stop. Tip: If the climb to Mönichkirchen is too strenuous for you, you can switch to cab transport.
Stage 3: Welcome to the Garden of Austria

Freshly strengthened, you will pass the border to Styria today. The EuroVelo 9 leads you further to the small historic town of Hartberg. Here a visit to the nature park Pöllauer Tal is tempting. Enjoy the many meadow orchards of Eastern Styria and dive into the realm of the stag pear. By the way: A visit to a Buschenschank is simply a must in this region. Finally, history comes alive in the charming town of Hartberg in the East Styrian hill country. Celts, Romans, knights and princes - you have all left your mark. But the main role here in the garden of Austria plays the lush nature. The villages around Hartberg lie on the Styrian Flower Road and delight the eye with their colorful splendor. For those who prefer fruit to flowers, the East Styrian Roman Wine Route will bring pure wine enjoyment. Incidentally, Hartberg has joined the Cittá Slow movement and thus focuses on peace and deceleration in the city.
Stage 4: Past thermal spas and vineyards
Length: 48 km
It almost feels as if you have to leave the Garden of Eden when you start your journey south today. But there are many more highlights waiting for you on this bike tour. On this stage, EuroVelo 9 becomes a bike path for thermal spa lovers: you will pass by famous thermal spa towns such as Bad Waltersdorf and Bad Blumau until you finally reach the thermal spa capital Fürstenfeld. During a walk through the old town, there are many fountains to marvel at, and the largest outdoor pool in Austria provides even more cooling. Along the Fortress Trail, you can explore the town's history at 13 stops - the starting point is Pfeilburg Castle, which also houses a museum.
Stage 5: Gentle hills, the best wine and lots of sunshine

The bike tour continues on EuroVelo 9 through the beautiful wine roads of the Thermen- und Vulkanland. From Fürstenfeld the route takes you via St. Anna am Aigen into the deepest south of Austria to Bad Radkersburg. The picturesque St. Anna lies like a Tuscan resort surrounded by vineyards on a hill and is home to the "Gesamtsteirische Vinothek". Here you can taste the best 220 wines from the three wine-growing regions of Styria and enjoy unique views on the "Wine Trail of the Senses". But now it's time for the final spurt: along the Slovenian border you will cycle today to Bad Radkersburg.
