On "Always On My Mind", singer-songwriter Rebekka Bakken gives songs by Annie Lennox, Finneas O'Connell and Peter Gabriel a new lease of life with her unique sound.
On her album "Always On My Mind", Norwegian singer and songwriter Rebekka Bakken transfers her favorite songs into her unmistakable sound cosmos between atmospheric Scandinavian pop and jazz. Together with her band, she brings a completely new sound to classics such as "Yesterday" by Lennon/McCartney, "Here Comes The Flood" by Peter Gabriel and "Why" by Annie Lennox, as well as "Break My Heart Again" by Finneas O'Connell, who together with his sister Billie Eilish represents a new generation of songwriters.
In an intimate band line-up with some of the best session musicians from Norway, the multiple gold award-winning musician and producer explores mystical depths in the songs she has selected. Rebekka Bakken skillfully orchestrates the famous sound clouds of guitarist Eivind Aarset with the atmospheric organ and synthesizer pads of Jørn Øien and Torjus Vierli, which are transfigured around piano chords and the bass lines of Tor Egil Kreken and drum beats of Rune Arnesen. This multi-layered soundscape sets the stage for the breathtakingly soulful voice of Rebekka Bakken, whose intensity has led some to compare her to Janis Joplin.
