Sensitivity and rousing rhythms characterize the sound of the Alexandra Ivanova Trio from Berlin, led by the Austrian pianist and composer with Bulgarian roots, who has experienced a variety of cultural influences that give her an "unorthodox compositional approach" (All About Jazz). With Niklas Lukassen on double bass and Nathan Ott on drums, the trio navigates between jazz, maqam influences, Arabic classical music, odd Balkan rhythms and Afro-Cuban claves. Alexandra's compositions stem from a deep journey into the self. Her arrangements of Azeri, Arabic or Icelandic pieces invite the listener to look at the world from different angles: from the East, the West or from somewhere in between. The trio has already toured Saudi Arabia and Europe and opened the 2023 Cairo Jazz Festival with guest vocalist Lynn Adib (FR/SYR), who is also featured on the album's title track: "Beauty in Chaos is a captivating album that often seems mysterious - which may be due to the fusion of cultural elements.
