Winter fairytale meadow and Reithkogel

This very varied winter hike takes us through snow-covered forests to the fairytale meadow, with wonderful viewpoints around the Reithkogel and back to Fischbach.
In the first section of the trail, on the fairytale meadow, fairytale backdrops and "stage sets" delight fairytale fans of all ages. The second part of the circular hike is characterized by beautiful viewpoints of wintry Eastern Styria.

From Vienna via the A2 Südautobahn highway and the S6 Semmering expressway to the Kindberg exit. Here through the Stanzertal valley on the Schanzsattel-Landesstraße L114 to Fischbach.
From Graz via the Weizer-Bundesstraße B72 to Birkfeld and from here via the Schanzsattel-Landesstraße L114 to Fischbach.
From Linz/Salzburg/Munich via the Pyhrnautobahn A9 and the Semmering-Schnellstraße S6 to the Kindberg exit. Continue as above.

We start our winter hike at the village square in Fischbach and take a leisurely stroll (here without snowshoes) along the village street past the church to the Fischbach elementary school. Between the elementary school and the cemetery, we turn right towards Roseggersiedlung and follow hiking trail no. 1 in the direction of Märchenwiese. At the end of the settlement, we put on our snowshoes and hike through a forest glistening in the snow until we finally reach a meadow with a fairytale background. Here, a few benches invite us to rest and linger.
With many impressions that remind us of our childhood, we now cross the meadow and continue along trail no. 1 on a beautiful forest path until we reach the striking Finsterlochkreuz junction. Keeping slightly to the left, we continue along trail no. 1 past a rest area where we can sign a "trail book". We come to a crossroads where we keep right and follow trail marker no. 15. At the two further crossroads, we turn right and finally come back to the Finsterloch cross. Here we return to Märchenwiese hiking trail no. 1 and reach our starting point in Fischbach via Roseggersiedlung (again without snowshoes).
There is plenty of parking available at the starting point on the village square in Fischbach.
