Since the 1970s, F. Penker has created an oeuvre that has developed under the influence of constructivist and concrete ideas as well as American color field painting and minimal art. Painting, its means, possibilities and conditions are examined and advanced. Analytical quality and continuity characterize the work of F. Penker, who occupies a singular position within Austrian painting. Nothing, absolutely nothing about F. Penker was screamingly loud, demanding or even vain. Neither he himself nor his art.
