Whether by car, plane or train, there are numerous ways to reach southern Styria. Here are the possible options, but were also happy to help you personally with any enquiries regarding your individual journey.

Plan your journey to southern Styria

Travelling by Car

Traveling from Graz on the A9/Phyrn motorway in the direction of Slovenia, and traveling from Slovenia in the direction of Graz, you can use the following motorway exits:

  • Wildon
  • Hengsberg
  • Lebring
  • Leibnitz
  • Vogau / Strass
  • Spielfeld
     

Coming from Graz or Klagenfurt on the A1/Süd-Autobahn, you should take the Lieboch exit and then enter Schilcherland in southern Styria towards the direction of Lannach.

Travelling by train

The train line 5 is the connection between Graz and southern Styria. It runs several times a day from Graz (Graz Airport) in the direction of Bad-Radkersburg and vice versa. You have the possibility to get on or off in Wildon, Lebring, Kaindorf an der Sulm, Leibnitz, Ehrenhausen and Spielfeld-Straß. For your onward journey, we recommend using a local taxi firm. 

The train line 6 provides the connection between Graz and the Schilcherland region in southern Styria. It runs several times a day from Graz main station via Lannach, Groß St. Florian, Deutschlandsberg to Wies-Eibiswald and vice versa. Once again, for your onward journey, we recommend using a local taxi firm.

In addition, there are daily direct connections between Graz and other state capitals.

Travelling by Plane

Southern Styria is very easy to reach by train from the airport in Graz. You can reach Wildon, Lebring, Kaindorf an der Sulm, Leibnitz, Ehrenhausen as well as Spielfeld-Straß with the train line 5 in the direction of Bad Radkersburg (5 minutes walk from the terminals). For your onward journey, we recommend using the local taxi firms.

Would you prefer a rental car for your journey to southern Styria and the rest of your stay? No problem. You have several can rental options directly at the airport.

Mobilität vor Ort

Wer das Angebot in der Südsteiermark kennt, will eines definitiv nicht: selbst mit dem Auto fahren. Sicherheit geht immer vor, auch im Urlaub. Nach einer Weinverkostung, einem Buschenschankbesuch oder nach einer langen Wanderung wünscht man sich meist den bequemsten Weg, um wieder sicher zurück zur Unterkunft zu kommen.

Selbst mit dem Auto zu fahren, gehört hier nicht dazu. Zum Glück gibt es in der Südsteiermark verschiedene Möglichkeiten, um sich nicht hinter das Steuer setzen zu müssen.

Mandatory Vignette (Toll sticker)
In Austria, the use of motorways and expressways is subject to a fee. There is a vignette obligation for all cars and motorcycles. Please inform yourself before your arrival about the tariffs as well as the handling. Vignette Prices in Austria

Toll Routes
