"The fascinating world of model railroads Deutschlandsberg in the Schilcher Land".
The history of this model railroad began privately, but in 2022 it was taken over by the Schell Collection and is now under the management of the "Modellbahn Deutschlandsberg" association.This layout is one of the largest private model railroads in Styria and impresses with two long main lines, which are double-tracked and electrified. A main station, a junction station and two smaller stations on the branch line extend the layout. The system is controlled by digital decoders and Train Controller software, which control around 800 m of track, 170 points and 230 blocks. This enables the simultaneous control of more than 15 trains with a total length of up to 4 m on the 61 m² layout. The detailed landscape design creates a nostalgic atmosphere and brings childhood dreams to life.A particular concern of the club is to actively involve young people aged 12 and over in club life. For this purpose, an analog Märklin H0 layout of around 6 m² was created to illustrate railroad operations without digital equipment. The model railroad layout is located in the heart of Deutschlandsberg and is open to the public free of charge on open days and on public club evenings (every 2nd Friday of the month from 17:00).
