More information

The elevated water tank of the Anger water supply system, in the direction of Edelschachen, is the starting point of this enchanting hike, which is approximately 3.3 km long. Here, an information board from the “Anger and Floing Climate Region” highlights the importance of water. A wooden sign on the railing of the small bridge points the way forward.
After about 200 m, you’ll see “Miraculix with the castle tower of the Waxenegg ruins.”

Along the trail, you’ll first come across the squirrel and the fox (currently still being carved by woodcarver Willfried Friess).
Beneath the “Floriani” waterfall stands the fish that used to inhabit the “Zetzbach” stream.

The waterfall was lovingly restored in 2014 by the Anger Fire Department.
Above the waterfall stands a wooden sculpture of “Saint Florian,” the patron saint of firefighters. Right by the waterfall is a bench that invites you to take a break.
Further along the trail, you’ll first encounter frogs and snakes, which thrive in the cool thickets of the natural forest and delight visitors. A beautiful wooden bench in the middle of the forest serves as another resting spot.

Further up, you’ll find the native fire salamander and the “poisonous” fly agaric mushroom before the next fish awaits you by the water.

Now the trail climbs upward again before crossing the road to Edelschachen. Along this section, you’ll also find mushrooms and the native great spotted woodpecker. After crossing the road, a sign points the way to the “Waxenegg Castle Ruins.” Along the trail, you’ll find the eagle owl, the eagle, and the hollowed-out pumpkin head.

The open area near the “Waxenegg Castle Ruins” has proven to be a popular spot to linger along the loop trail. Now the beautiful loop trail leads back
downhill to the right of the castle ruins.

The old eagle, facing the castle ruins, marks the starting point of the loop trail. The trail leads downhill along the edge of the forest and through flowering meadows, back to the parking lot, where there is another information board from the Climate Region on the topic of “biodiversity.”
And when you experience the buzzing and humming of the diverse insect life, including butterflies, here, you feel transported back to earlier times when nature was still intact.

Along the way, you might still spot bears, deer, and hares at the edge of the forest. A young eagle and an owl gaze down toward Anger and up at the Rabenwald on the opposite
side.
At the end of the loop trail, you can take another short break at “Wurzelsepp.” A beautiful and educational hiking trail for the whole family around the “Waxenegg Castle Ruins” near Anger.

Along the entire loop trail, you’ll find 12 giant mushrooms and 5
benches where you can rest.
