Deutschlandsberg, the district and Schilcher town, is home to around 11,600 residents and is located in the heart of western Styria surrounded by vineyards, meadows and forests. The city with its six districts of Bad Gams, Deutschlandsberg, Freiland, Kloster, Osterwitz and Trahütten stands for a high-quality location that is rarely found today.
The wide range of cultural and culinary offers leave nothing to be desired. Numerous sporting opportunities and an intact natural environment, which with the Natura 2000 European protection area Laßnitzklause reaches into the city, additionally highlight this high quality of life. However, Deutschlandsberg is also located on the hiking route "From the Glacier to the Wine" and on the Styrian Wine Country Route. In addition to the Schilcher wine, regional specialities such as pumpkin seed oil and in the autumn the savoury fine chestnuts invite you to linger with some Schilchersturm [Schilcher wine in its fermentation period].
