Guided Tour in the Museum altes Zeughaus
General Information
The tour through the museum is like a walk through history
In twelve exhibition rooms, visitors experience the fascinating history of the town of Bad Radkersburg on approximately 500 square meters – from the earliest prehistoric traces of settlement to the present-day popular spa and tourism destination.
The exhibition impressively showcases the historical development of the town: from its economic and cultural heyday as a significant trading center and fortified town between the late 13th and early 16th centuries to the difficult times of the 17th and 18th centuries, marked by wars, religious conflicts, and epidemics like the plague. The far-reaching effects of both world wars on Bad Radkersburg and the transformation into a modern health and tourism destination are also vividly presented.
The basis of the exhibition is the extensive art and cultural historical collection of the house. This includes, among other things, one of the largest closed guild chest collections in Europe as well as numerous significant prehistoric and early historic finds. Through an atmospherically staged presentation, the historical objects are brought to life, making the museum visit a special experience for culture enthusiasts, history buffs, and tourists.
