Nature trail Schichtturm

Open
Beautiful view of the old town and the Erzberg, as well as the surrounding mountains, numerous information and educational panels along the way and especially family friendly. The nature trail Schichtturm is located in the region ERZBERG LEOBEN.
From the parking lot in front of the municipal office, the hike leads along Flutergasse and Krumpentalerstraße in a southerly direction for about 10 minutes until Röstboden. Here, turn right over a bridge, after which the first information board with the stations of the nature trail is reached shortly thereafter on the right. First, the trail leads horizontally along the former railroad line, which ends at a blocked tunnel below the layer tower. However, the further course of the nature trail leads about 100 meters before that on the left through a small piece of forest and then over a meadow uphill to the layer tower. From the Schichtturm, you have the option of taking a shortcut down the trail to the right, past beehives directly into the old town and then back along Flutergasse to the parking lot or starting point. The slightly longer variant leads first to the layer tower over the gravel road into the "Tull" to the Mattenschanzen and then right down the Tullstraße to the city center, from where the parking lot at the municipal office or the starting point is soon reached.

From the parking lot in front of the municipal office, we walk comfortably for about 10 minutes along Flutergasse and Krumpentalerstarße in a southerly direction to the so-called Röstboden. We continue over a bridge, after which we reach the first information board on the right with the stations of the nature trail. First, the path leads us horizontally along the former railroad line, which ends at a blocked tunnel below the layer tower. However, the further course of the nature trail leads about 100 meters before that on the left through a small piece of forest and then over a meadow uphill to the layer tower. From the layer tower, we can take the shortcut down the path on the right, past beehives directly into the old town and there again along the Flutergasse to the parking lot or our starting point.
From May to October, the Schichtturm is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday as a snack station.

Tip: You should definitely look at the Schichtturmglocke - a sister of the Graz "Liesl" - from the Schlossberg!
