More information
From the Ennstalbundesstraße B320 from both directions turn to Wörschach and follow the signs to the Klamm parking lot.
The path to the Wörschach Gorge is signposted from the town center. From the gorge parking lot, it's about a 15-minute walk upstream along the stream to the Klammstüberl – the entrance to the gorge. Immediately beyond, the Wörschachbach stream roars through its rocky bed. The trail leads steadily uphill, partly on boardwalks and bridges. The rocks on both sides of the stream close in, leaving only a narrow gap above – it's truly impressive how the water has carved its way through the rock. It takes about 30 minutes to reach the gorge exit. From here, the landscape changes: you hike through a large basin with tall mixed forest up to a bench near the Kohlstatt, where charcoal was once produced. Continue westward and then descend via the forest road to the historic Wolkenstein Castle ruins with their still well-preserved walls. From the oriel windows, you have a magnificent view over the valley. From here, you can reach the starting point or the gorge parking lot again in about 10 minutes.
