The hike to Burgstallkogel is ‘living history’ – a direct encounter with monuments of a past that cannot be accessed through written sources.
The hike begins at the Hallstatt Period Museum in Großklein, leads past the Steirerkeller inn via the Kirchsteig trail along municipal and forest paths towards Karberg and over the Lassenberg through a wooded area back down to Narrath. Passing the Zitz (Siegl) winery, you cross the Saggaubach stream to Kleinklein. After a short stretch on the municipal path, the ascent begins on a forest path up to the Burgstallkogel/Grillkogel to the Hallstatt period farmstead, which provides a unique insight into the lives of the people of our region in the Early Iron Age. From there, you can reach Kleinklein via municipal paths, past the Ledinegg wine tavern, and along the quiet country road back to the starting point. A hiking tour that tells a story, offers magnificent views and doesn't neglect enjoyment.
