The bird theme trail leads us through the diversity of birds in the south of the Pöllau Valley Nature Park. Highlights include vast orchards and the romantic Schönauklamm gorge.

From the starting point of the bird theme trail, the route heads south. The circular route leads along the bird theme trail through the idyllic hills, forests and meadows of the Pöllau Valley Nature Park. The beautiful views of the municipalities of Pöllau and Pöllauberg and the romantic Schönauklamm gorge are the highlights of this circular hike.

Platzerl am Bach (start of the bird theme trail) - GH Schrank - Schönauklamm - Platzerl am Bach

From the "Platzerl am Bach" at the starting point of the bird theme trail (next to Retter Reisen) we head west, cross the Safenbach bridge and turn left along the asphalt road.
Here we join the bird theme trail and follow both markings to the fork at GH Schrank.From GH Schrank, our hike continues along the bird theme trail and the white-blue-white markings over the Schönauklamm gorge.
At the exit of the gorge, we meet the red-white-red signpost no. 945 to Pöllau, which we follow to the Schönau landmark.
Once here, we turn right, following the yellow dot marking, back to the "Platzerl am Bach" at the Safen.

Hikers should avoid visiting the forest approx. 1.5 hours before sunrise and after sunset, as wild animals are particularly active at this time.
Plastic bottles, handkerchiefs, cigarette butts etc. have no place in the forest! Please make sure that you do not leave any garbage in the forest.
Camping and making fires is strictly forbidden in the forest!
In principle, every person in the forest is allowed to collect 2 kg of mushrooms and berries per day for their own use. It is only prohibited if the forest owner expressly forbids it.

Before starting the hike, check where to stop for refreshments, including opening times, or pack appropriate food and drink

Depending on how long you spend at the display boards, we recommend that you allow at least an additional hour.
