Sillweger Aussichtswarte

Open
The Sillweger Aussichtswarte is easy to hike from Fohnsdorf and a wonderful place to linger and enjoy.
A small lookout with a big effect, that is the Sillweg lookout built in 1909. The lookout is located at an altitude of 959 m above sea level and surprises with a wonderful view due to its exposed position. At this small place there is a wooden house with seats and a panorama board, with the help of which you can determine the peaks of the Stubalpe and the Seetaler Alps. At this special place you can really make yourself comfortable and whoever wants can extend the tour with a hike to the Hammerleck.

More information

From St. Michael in Upper Styria via the Murtal expressway S36 (vignette required) to the exit "Zeltweg-West". Then via Aichdorf to Fohnsdorf (36 km, approx. 25 minutes).

From Judenburg via the Murtal expressway S36 (vignette required) to the exit "Judenburg-Ost" and then to Fohnsdorf (10 km, approx. 15 minutes).

We start at the main square in Fohnsdorf (1), 736 m, and walk slightly uphill along Grabenstraße, past the parish church and after a short time turn right into Höhenstraße. We walk a short distance along Höhenstraße and then turn left into Precheisengasse, which we follow until we reach the Traunerweg turnoff. We now hike uphill along the Traunerweg, first on the asphalt road and then a gravel road leads us to the Trauner farmstead (2), 994 m. From now on we hike along a well-maintained path, always slightly uphill, and after a wooden path we come directly to a forest road. A bit uphill along the forest road and we see on the right side the entrance to the Sillweg lookout. The path goes slightly up and down until we reach the Sillweger lookout (3), 959m. The way back is via the ascent route.
Those who like a circular hike can choose the descent via Sillweg and hike back to Fohnsdorf via asphalt roads.
Fohnsdorf is easy to reach by bus. The nearest train stations are Judenburg, Zeltweg and Knittelfeld.
