Garden Castle Herberstein
Stubenberg
In the imposing castle grounds and the magnificently landscaped gardens, you can immerse yourself in a bygone era. The palace gardens date back to the 16th century. On a guided garden tour through the splendour of the historical garden, you will learn interesting facts about the history of European garden culture.
The name Herberstein stands for unique nature, which has had centuries to achieve botanical splendour in the most diverse gardens, from the most varied epochs and styles. It leads the visitor between herbs, fruit trees, terraced beds, water cascades and hundreds of rose bushes into a floral magic world and leaves room to marvel and breathe in equal measure.
The Garden Castle Herberstein is a cultural concentrate. The Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque eras make a trip to this place a trip into another world. It can be experienced here as authentically and dust-free as if you were boarding a time machine with various destinations at the entrance to the castle. Just as the rose buds open countless times every year, just as the wine grown here is harvested every autumn, the castle does not only want to sharpen the view of yesterday. The Herberstein family is aware that history can only live if it is brought back to the present through a variety of paths. One sign of this is the Gironcoli Museum, which was built here and hosts a wide variety of exhibitions and events. This architectural jewel by Hermann Eisenköck is named after Bruno Gironcoli, one of the most important sculptors of the 20th century.
