Skitour Blaseneck

Open
The Blaseneck is a real classic. Who hasn't heard of the Ploden Alm at the foot of the Blaseneck? Situated on the south side of the valley, the summit offers wonderful, shady slopes that provide powder enjoyment for a long time.  The Blaseneck very often lives up to its name as a cold wind "blows" around your ears at the summit.
The Blaseneck is an alternative to the Leobner, but is still visited by many ski tourers on nice weekends. During the week, you are usually almost completely alone here and can enjoy the view.

The ascent via the forest paths to the Plodenalm is leisurely. From the alpine pasture, the route goes uphill through the north-facing ditch. On the ridge you have a good view of the inconspicuous summit cross. Choose the descent depending on your experience in the ascent track and oncoming traffic. Located on the edge of the Gesäuse in the Eisenerzer Alps, the Blaseneck is one of the most beautiful ski touring mountains. In the upper area, there are several downhill options on the north side.

More information

A9 Phyrnautobahn to exit Ardning/Admont and from there past Frauenberg, approx. 10 km to Admont. Via the B146 (Gesäuse Bundesstraße) from the west into the Gesäuse.

Or via Leoben, Vordernberg and Eisenerz to Hieflau and from there via B146 in a westerly direction into the Gesäuse.

A1 Westautobahn to exit Ybbs and from there south through Scheibbs, Lunz am See, Göstling an der Ybbs and Palfau to Hieflau. From there take the B146 in a westerly direction to the Gesäuse.

In the National Park there is only one intersection worth mentioning, namely the one into the Johnsbachtal (coming from Admont after approx. 11 km and coming from Hieflau after approx. 15 km). Follow this road (L743) about 10 km into the valley. Go through Johnsbach past the famous Kölbwirt inn until you reach the Zeiringeralm car park (with information boards) at the end of the road on the left after the Ebnerklamm car park.

The tour begins at the car park of the Zeiringeralm (Johnsbacher Almenrunde), where the information boards clearly present the upcoming tour. From the car park, follow the forest road in a southerly direction. Past the signposted turn-off to the Zeiringeralm, which is soon after the car park, the ascent track leads along the snow-covered forest road along the Johnsbach to the crossroads with the signpost to Ploden. The forest road now takes us up to the Breitenbergeralm at the foot of the Ploden. The path continues uphill across flat alpine meadows to a short steep step with a subsequent hollow, which we overcome.

Here we keep to the right to reach the summit slope via a ridge. We climb steeply over the ridge to the summit with its fantastic view - the mountains of the Gesäuse to the north and the Niedere Tauern to the south. The descent is identical to the ascent route.

From the Blaseneck you can descend via the Plodenalm directly to the Johnsbach ski lift and get a few more turns on the slopes there. If you don't want to drive up to the car park, you can start directly at the Kölblwirt on the Blaseneck. Through the Sebringgraben to the summit and back again via the Ploden and the T-bar lift. A special variant.
