SkillThe tour in numbers
A short hike with beautiful views starting at the Edelrautehütte and leading to the Großer Scheibelsee. The roughly 2.8-kilometer loop takes you through alpine pastures, along the lake shore, past beautiful photo spots, and offers impressive views of the Rottenmanner Tauern mountain landscape.
This short hike starts at the parking lot below the Edelrautehütte and follows a manageable loop to the Großer Scheibelsee. At about 2.8 kilometers and with an elevation gain of roughly 80 meters, the hike is quite manageable and is ideal for anyone looking for a short but landscape-rich hike in an alpine setting.
The trail connects the area around the Edelrautehütte with the Scheibelalm and the Großer Scheibelsee. Along the way, beautiful views of the surrounding mountain landscape open up. The area around the lake is particularly charming, where water, alpine meadows, and the mountain backdrop combine to create an atmospheric scene.
The loop is well-suited for families, leisure hikers, and anyone who wants to enjoy a beautiful hike in the Rottenmanner Tauern without a long walking time. Despite the short distance, you’ll be hiking in alpine terrain—so sturdy footwear and weather-appropriate clothing are recommended.
