Mur Cycle Path in summer

The Mur Cycle Route follows the Mur River for 365 km through Austria, with a route that is mostly downhill—ideal for beginner cyclists. From St. Michael im Lungau, the route passes through medieval Murau, historic Judenburg, and Leoben, all the way to the state capital of Graz, with its clock tower and Schlossberg. It continues along the South Styrian Wine Route to Bad Radkersburg. Highlights include Seckau Abbey, Rabenstein Castle, the Lurgrotte, and well-preserved old towns. Daily stages average 55–65 km on dedicated bike paths.

This 7-day journey along the Mur Cycle Path takes you from the Salzburg region, with its impressive mountain scenery, all the way to the Slovenian border in charming Styria. Recharge your batteries with fresh mountain air and Lungau delicacies in St. Michael before cycling through the Lungau Valley and along the Mur River. In addition to stunning natural scenery, towns such as Tamsweg, Murau, Judenburg, and Graz await you. Churches, monasteries, and castles line the route as cultural landmarks. Near Mureck, you’ll join the South Styrian Wine Route, and at your destination, Bad Radkersburg, the soothing thermal springs await you. Nature, cuisine, culture, as well as activity and relaxation—look forward to a cycling tour that offers a little bit of everything.

Day 1: Arrival at St. Michael im Lungau
Day 2: St. Michael – Murau (approx.55 km)
Day 3: Murau – Judenburg area (approx.65 km)
Day 4: Judenburg area – Bruck an der Mur / Oberaich (approx 60 km)
Day 5: Bruck an der Mur / Oberaich – Graz (approx.60 km)
Day 6: Graz – Mureck (approx.65 km)
Day 7: Mureck – Bad Radkersburg (approx.25 km), return travel or extension of trip
