Sport and fun in a colourful nature

autumn in the Graz Region

After a very hot summer, autumn is the time to enjoy the cooler temperatures while running, walking, climbing or cycling. Nature shows itself in the most beautiful colours! Hiking is now in high season and many a bull's eye can be scored with bow and arrow.

City walks in the provincial capital of Graz

walking and strolling

Graz's old town is best explored on foot - for example, by climbing 260 steps to the Schlossberg, where you can enjoy the magnificent view over the unique rooftop landscape.

From veggie walks to night tours

City walks

There are numerous ways to get to know the many facets of the city, its history and stories, insider tips, hidden places and unique jewels in an interesting and entertaining way. Depending on your personal preferences, you can choose from a wide range of city walks and tours: From the classic guided city tour, the courtyard or evening tour to the popular culinary city tour or Veggie Walk and beer tour, but also special “Grätzel” tours through the Lend or Griesviertel.

Autumn - wonderfully HIKABLE

on foot

When the colourful leaves drift and autumn shows its most beautiful side, it's high time to swap flip-flops for hiking boots and hit the road. New discoveries and adventures await!

Only a few kilometres from the city of Graz and you are already in the middle of the hiking paradise of the Graz Region. From the Hebalm to the Gleinalm to the Schöckl, there are leisurely walks, wonderful mountain, hut and alpine tours, family-friendly themed trails or wildly romantic gorge.

Everyone gets their money's worth on hikes "On alpine pastures and peaks", "With kids and kith and kin", "For connoisseurs and gourmets", "By the river and lake".

In autumn it's "goodbye to your calves"

CYCLING WITH PLEASURE

In all directions of the Graz Region, beautiful tours invite you to cycle and enjoy. When people talk about enjoying autumn, they probably think of plump grapes, hilly vineyards, Sturm (grape juice, which has already begun to ferment) and chestnuts. Two stages of the more than 400 km long Weinland Steiermark cycle tour lead through the Graz region, or rather start in Graz - Austria's capital of delights. It's just a few pedals from Schilcherland to Piber, home of the famous white majesties of the Vienna Riding School - the Lipizzanerheimat variant is especially worthwhile for horse lovers, and even more, it's a real treat!

ADVENTURE & ACTION

If you are looking for active challenges and variety or if hiking and nature experiences seem too boring, you are guaranteed to find fun in motor skills courses, high ropes courses and climbing parks.

Summer toboggan runs such as Hexenexpress on Schöckl or Steirarodl in Modriach are real hits, not only with the little ones - even in autumn!
