Graz can be reached quickly and conveniently from many directions. The new non-stop flight from London and shorter travel times from Northern Italy and Carinthia thanks to the Koralm Railway make travelling to Graz even more convenient. Direct Train Connections

Arrival by Train

Graz Main Station is one of the most important railway hubs in Austria. Excellent train connections are available from cities such as Vienna, Munich, and Salzburg. Thanks to the Koralm Railway, Klagenfurt can be reached in just 42 minutes, while travel times from Northern Italy have also been significantly reduced.

Arrival by Car

Travelling by car offers flexibility and independence. Graz is located directly on the A2 motorway and is therefore easy to reach.

Approximate driving times:

  • Vienna: approx. 2 hours

  • Munich: approx. 4 hours 30 minutes

  • Udine: approx. 3 hours

Incidentally, the surrounding Graz Region is also very well connected to the motorway network. The northern areas and parts of the south are located along the A9 motorway, while many other destinations in the south, west, and east lie directly on the A2 or only a short distance from it.

Please note that a vignette (toll sticker) is required on all motorways in Austria. In addition to the annual vignette, a 2-month vignette and a 10-day vignette are also available.

Getting to Graz by train or long-distance bus services such as FlixBus is easy and convenient.

The city’s public transport network is excellently developed, with an extensive system of trams and buses. Even the Schlossberg can be reached easily, either by the Schlossberg funicular or by taking the lift through the tunnel inside the hill. A city tour on the electric sightseeing bus for visitors is also highly recommended.

The surrounding towns and municipalities can be reached conveniently by train, suburban rail (S-Bahn), or bus. For special travel needs or areas not served by regular public transport, the Flux shared taxi service is also available.
