From the sea to the mountains at Loser
General Information
Experience earth history, that's the motto of today's hike to the summit of the Altausseer local mountain.
The registered hikers meet on August 16, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. at the valley station of the Loser Panoramabahn. Afterwards, the group will take the panoramic lift up to the Loser.
The "Loser Round" starts at the mountain station of the Loser Panoramabahn and leads us together to the crystal-clear Augstsee. From there, the ascent to the Loser Window, a popular photo motif at Loser, takes place before heading over the Hochanger to the Loser Summit at 1838 meters above sea level. A breathtaking panoramic view of the Ausseerland, the Dachstein massif, and the Tote Gebirge is the reward.
After reaching the summit, the descent to the Loser Hut begins, where today's hike ends.
Along the way, Nadine Guggenberger, hiking guide and geographer, makes the formation of the landscape tangible - from geological processes to the alpine shaping of the surroundings.
