This themed tour in the Salzwelten Altaussee salt mine reveals why art treasures of immeasurable value were stored in the tunnels of the salt mine, how the "Ausseer" miners resisted the Nazi regime during World War II, and what brought some Hollywood big names to the salt mines of the Salzbergwerk Altaussee.
On the special themed tour “Bombs on Michelangelo”, visitors will learn how the brave miners of the salt mines in Altaussee managed to save the precious art treasures from destruction, and why some of the famous works turned up in the back rooms of taverns shortly thereafter.
