WOOD has always shaped the Holzwelt Murau. Many museums show the importance of this raw material. Whether it's rural utensils, wooden cult objects, small wooden altars and altar angles or modern art objects made of wood - all of this can be found in the collections of the regional museums.
The farmer's mill in Mühlen with the adjoining farmer's museum are witnesses to how people used to live and the important role that wood played in everyday life. It is a special kind of journey through time. The pipe museum, the crushing hut, the brass band museum as well as the many mills and the Murau town museum will inspire you with their collections from days gone by. On request, we can also open the doors to the carvers and wood artists - rare and special experiences.

Coming from Judenburg via Unzmarkt to Scheifling. Continue straight on until you reach Neumarkt.
Coming from Tamsweg, drive via Ranten (or Stadl an der Mur) to Murau. Keep right here and drive via Laßnitz and St. Lambrecht to Mariahof. Turn right again here and continue to Neumarkt.
The starting point of this tour is the main square in Neumarkt. From here, head towards St. Marein bei Neumarkt and turn left. Walk via Kulm am Zirbitz and Kalsdorf to Mühlen. Here you turn back and take the same route back to Neumarkt. Turn left here and walk via Mariahof to Teufenbach. Walk via Frojach and Katsch an der Mur to St. Peter am Kammersberg. Via Pöllau am Greim and Oberwölz you reach Niederwölz, where you keep left and return to the starting point via Scheifling and Gotthardsdorf.
