The hike to the mystical power place leads along forest and woodland paths through the snow-covered nature of the Fischbach Alps.

The stone sculpture, the Teufelstein, attracts countless hikers to Fischbach every year. Once you reach the summit, you can enjoy the magnificent view. The panorama from the Teufelstein stretches from the Hochschwab across the Veitsch and Rax to the hilly landscape of Eastern Styria and Graz's local mountain, the Schöckl.

After the hike, you have the opportunity to enjoy refreshments in one of the inns in the climatic health resort of Fischbach, for example in the toque-awarded restaurant "Zum Forsthaus". The other restaurants in the village also offer regional delicacies all year round to spoil their guests.

From Vienna via the A2 Südautobahn highway and the S6 Semmering expressway to the Kindberg exit. Here through the Stanzertal valley on the Schanzsattel-Landesstraße L114 to Fischbach.

From Graz via the Weizer-Bundesstraße B72 to Birkfeld and from here via the Schanzsattel-Landesstraße L114 to Fischbach.

From Linz/Salzburg/Munich via the Pyhrnautobahn A9 and the Semmering-Schnellstraße S6 to the Kindberg exit. Continue as above.

We start at the Zeller Kreuz and follow the Alpannonia markings
At the Alptor we turn right towards the Teufelsteinhütte
Once we arrive at the Teufelsteinhütte, we follow the signs to the Teufelstein
Continue along the Teufelsteinrunde trail to Schanzsattel and from there back again
to Zeller Kreuz.
You should take the same route back.

A few tips on correct and fair behaviour in the forest: (Source: www.bundesforste.at )

Hikers should avoid visits to the forest about 1.5 hours before sunrise and after sunset, as wild animals are particularly active during this time.

Plastic bottles, handkerchiefs, cigarette butts etc. have no place in the forest! Please make sure that you do not leave any rubbish in the forest.

Camping and lighting fires are strictly forbidden in the forest!

In principle, every person is allowed to pick 2 kg of mushrooms and berries per day for personal use. It is only prohibited if the forest owner expressly forbids it.

Route description
Before starting the hike, check the possibilities for refreshments, including opening times, or pack appropriate food and drink.

After the wonderful hike up the Teufelstein on the winter solstice, you can enjoy a delicious breakfast at the local inns.
