Windpark Pretul: Auersbach - Moschkogel - Roseggerhaus

We start in Mürzzuschlag in Wiener Straße at the tobacconist's and first take the tarmac road into the Auersbach. Initially only slightly uphill, the road becomes steeper and steeper and finally turns into a forest road.

The official mountain bike route begins at the last car park in Auersbach. Here the road also becomes steeper and steeper. We cycle to the large fork in the road, where the routes divide. Turn left towards Friedrichhütte, straight ahead towards Schwarzriegelalm and slightly right towards Moschkogel.

After this fork in the road, the route becomes more moderate again, climbing only minimally, over the Madereben to the Unterer Moschkogel, where you can see the wind turbines for the first time. We continue until the path splits again and we take the steep ascent to the Oberer Moschkogel with the Moschkogel hut.

After a stop for refreshments and a long rest, we ride over the Geiereck and turn right here towards Pretul and Roseggerhaus. We pass the highest point of the tour, the Peter Bergner Warte.

On the way back, we either take the same route or alternatively take the downhill option via the Ganzalm and the Bärenkogel to Mürzzuschlag.

We recommend a stop at the Halterhütte on the Moschkogel for a cheese sandwich, while the Roseggerhaus on the Pretul tempts you with homemade strudel.

Take the train to Mürzzuschlag station.
