A wonderful bike ride to the Tonnerhütte, which offers the opportunity for a subsequent hike up the Zirbitzkogel.

This bike tour leads from Mühlen via Mondorf along fields and through forests to the Tonnerhütte hut at the foot of the Zirbitzkogel. Once there, you can stop for refreshments at the hut or take the opportunity to conquer the summit and hike on to the Zirbitzkogel.

By car from Germany
From Munich via the A8 towards Salzburg. From Salzburg on the A10 Tauernautobahn to St. Michael im Lungau. On the B 96 to Tamsweg, then on the B 95 to Predlitz. The B 97 leads via Stadl/Mur to Murau. There at the roundabout towards St. Lambrecht to Murauer train station and further towards St. Lambrecht. You reach St. Lambrecht via Laßnitz near Murau. Continue here to Mariahof. Keep right and drive over Neumarkt, left towards Mühlen.

Arrival from Eastern Austria/Hungary
At the motorway junction in St. Michael near Leoben, take the S 36 towards Klagenfurt. Past Knittelfeld and Judenburg to Scheifling. In Scheifling continue towards Klagenfurt to Neumarkt, via Unzmarkt and Perchau am Sattel you reach Neumarkt. Drive left towards Mühlen.

Arrival from southern Austria/Italy
Via Klagenfurt on the S37 past St. Veit/Glan, Treibach and Friesach. In Friesach continue towards Vienna, via Dürnstein and Wildbad to Neumarkt. After the town center of Neumarkt turn left towards Murau, in Mariahof always go straight ahead and over Neumarkt, turn left towards Mühlen.

The tour starts in Mühlen and first heads south towards Noreia and Mondorf. In Mondorf, the road takes a sharp left turn. We follow the road and keep right at the fork near Haus Brunner. At the next fork, we turn left and shortly afterwards arrive at the Lackner farm and cross the Fallgrabenbach stream to reach the access road to the Tonnerhütte. The return route to Mühlen is via the access road over the Jakobsberg.
