Leisurely walk with interesting insights into a piece of intact nature! The Oppenberg Moor is a habitat for cotton grass and orchid populations, fever clover, marsh blood-eye, round-leaved sundew and an important amphibian spawning ground.

In Rottenmann in the district of Liezen, Josef Schlemmer manages a unique moor of national importance. In September 2020, he was one of three winners of the "Naturwiese 2020" state award.

Leave the A9 Phyrn motorway at Rottenmann Exit 74 and turn left onto the B113. Follow this road for 300m and then turn left to Strechau. Then follow the L739 to Oppenberg.

At the Kirchenwirt car park, follow the signs to "Einstieg Moorweg" (entrance to the Moor Trail) and the easy, idyllic trail will lead you past information boards, 2 viewing platforms and a few benches for a rest. At the end you come to the road on which there is little traffic and you can either return or take the same route back to the starting point!

A stop at the Grobbauer Inn is always worthwhile!

Oppenberg is difficult to reach from Rottenmann as there is no public transport.

Rottenmann can be reached by train with regional trains.

Rottenmann can be easily reached via the motorway. From there, signposts lead to Oppenberg.

Go through the small village and on the right hand side you will see the restaurant Kirchenwirt with a large car park.
