More information

Via the A9 motorway or the federal road B67 to Friesach, then go for Kleinstübing at the roundabout.

Follow the Stübingtalstrasse to Grossstübing.

There’s a public car park next to the Grossstübinger Stub’n inn in Grossstübing. From here, the route goes west to Silberbergstrasse. Trail 17 branches off to the right after 100 metres and leads up to the Hiedner inn on Silberberg. On the way you pass a newly installed wayside shrine. After the Huber farm there’s a fantastic view across Stübingtal valley. The panoramic view from the mountain ridge is breathtaking. After crossing the municipal road four times we get to the last stretch on the road to the Hiedner inn on Silberberg at an altitude of 913 m. March on in an easterly direction along the easy-going Höhenweg trail 535; go past the “Eder Cross”, where you can enjoy a glorious view onto the northern Übelbachtal valley towards Hochlantsch, and keep on until you reach to the “Wart”. This is the lowest spot of the pass and the fastest connection between the Übelbachtal and Stübingtal valleys near the Wartbauer farm.
Stübingtal is famous for the Alpine longhorn beetle, a protected species. The beeches of Grossstübing offer the beetles their favourite habitat.
Hikers without a car can get here comfortably by public transport, bus, or train. OberGraz is easily accessible by the S1 rapid transit railway line between Graz and Bruck/Mur.
