Then we cross the road at the roundabout and turn left into the village of Kleinsteinbach on an accompanying path. After we have spotted the train stop and left the tracks behind us, we turn right at the next intersection. After a short distance of about 50 m, we turn left and have a short climb to negotiate. After that, we can enjoy a short downhill stretch. At the right-hand bend, do not follow the road but continue straight ahead or turn left and follow the path into the forest. Stay on this path until you reach Burgau. Caution is advised, especially in wet weather, as this is a forest path, partly with stones and small inclines and descents.
We also roll downhill into the village of Burgau. At the almost 90° bend, watch out for the stop sign, cycle straight ahead for a short distance and then follow the first road out of Burgau on the right. In the village centre, you can quench your thirst or satisfy your hunger in a pub, café or bakery. The moated castle is also worth a visit.
At the end of Burgau, we cross a very old bridge and turn right onto the gravel path at the tobacco hut. We continue straight ahead for a long stretch, passing beautiful fields and crops on both sides. Then we turn left and cross a bridge. This takes us over the Lafnitz river, which forms the border between Styria and Burgenland. After a short distance, we turn right and cycle along the Lafnitz for a longer stretch.
Then we turn left towards Deutsch Kaltenbrunn. As soon as we reach the village, we keep to the right on the road and follow it through the village. At the end of the village, turn right again onto the roadside path. Now continue straight ahead on this path for several kilometres until you reach Rudersdorf. Before that, there is a roundabout at the S7, which you can pass along the cycle path. In Rudersdorf, before the roundabout, keep left and ride across a car park into Hintergasse towards the municipal office and past the church. Following Hintergasse, we now cross the main road towards the side street ‘Am Mühlengrund’. Here we pass the Fritz Mühle mill and ride over the rustic bridge along part of the Energieweg trail. At the next intersection, turn left and follow the riverside path. Then turn left again onto Burgenlandstraße.
Now we are approaching the centre of Fürstenfeld. At the roundabout, turn right onto Hauptstraße, pass the Fürstenfeld tourist information office and turn left onto Dr.-A.-Heinrichstraße, then right onto Klostergasse and then left through Pfeilburghof. Follow the signs here until you turn right onto Wallstraße. Now continue straight ahead for a longer stretch until you reach Morzartstraße. Turn right here, then continue straight ahead, cross Buchwaldstraße once and follow a narrow, asphalted and partly sloping path. At the end, turn left towards the outdoor swimming pool. Before the entrance, cross the bridge on the right. Follow the signs for Grazerstraße or the signs for the R12 cycle path.
Cross the road at the traffic lights. Behind the shopping centre (Italian restaurant), turn left onto the cycle path. Then follow Baumgasse and turn left onto Angerstraße. Continue straight ahead to the centre of Speltenbach and turn left onto Speltenbacherweg at the crossroads. Follow this road out of Speltenbach (turn left once at the junction after the village) to Altenmarkt. Shortly after entering the village, turn right onto Dorfgrabenweg at the football pitch. Then turn right again at the junction. Follow Jobsterstraße to the next village, Jobst. Here, turn right after the old fire station onto the road to Loimeth. At the entrance to the village, you can make a detour to the 1000-year-old oak tree on the right. Continue straight ahead into the village and turn right at the first crossroads onto Dorfstraße Loimeth. Now follow this road and turn left once more onto the main road to Bad Blumau. After a short distance, you will be back at the starting point.
