Grubegg Trail

Grubegg Trail is a beautiful short tour on the southern town limit of Schladming that offers a marvellous view across the picturesque small town in the mountains. The walk is popular among locals for a morning or evening walk.
The short tour is a walk of approximately 50 minutes at the town limits of Schladming. The trail is quite "sporty" and good shoes are recommended. Along the edge of the forest the trail winds along the slope, and especially in the morning and evening you are rewarded with a terrific view across the town of Schladming.

Exit from federal highway B320 at the exit "Schladming-Ost". From there continue to the Planai cable-car at Planai stadium.
From the trail head at Planai stadium you make you way through Schießstattgasse street which joins into Berggasse street, which you follow past Pension Kieler. West of Pension Kieler you turn off left towards Planai. You follow the signs of Grubeggweg/WM-Pfad Planai and hike up the trail. After 2 switchbacks you reach a trail junction and make a right towards Grubegg. From here you follow trail n° 2 to the West. After a couple of minutes you reach a viewpoint, where you have a great view over the mountain town Schladming. Keep on walking West until you reach trail n° 779 which takes you back down to Talbachklamm gorge from where you can reach Berggasse street within 5 minutes and head back to the trail head at Planai stadium
The walk can be combined with a walk through Talbachklamm gorge. After Grubegg Trail you walk to the village of Untertal and back to Schladming via the Upper Talbach trail.
In the town of Schladming you can take the Citybus. From Rohrmoos take the Planai buses to Planet Planai, from Ramsau take the buses of Ramsauer Verkehrsbetriebe.
Parking is available at the valley terminal of the Planai cable-car.
