Located in the heart of Mariazell, the Hotel zum Kirchenwirt offers ideal conditions for quickly and conveniently reaching your destinations in Mariazell and the surrounding area. Our hotel is just 50 meters from the Basilica and 400 meters from the cable car to the Mariazeller Bürgeralpe.

Brief History of the House

1673: The house was a linen weaving mill under Andreas Fladl.
1700: Jakob Fladl, a linen weaver and host, first received permission to rent rooms to pilgrims. Consequently, the house has been an accommodation establishment since then.
1845: The hosts of the "Grünen Kranz" (Green Wreath), Franz and Rosalia Schön, touched their house Madonna to the miraculous statue, which still stands at the same spot at the reception today.
1900: Jakob and Johanna Sorger purchased the inn.
1940: Rudolf and Berta Ortenburger became the innkeepers; Rudolf passed away in 1964.
1968: Berta Ortenburger converted the house into a hotel in several stages.
2002: The Böhm family purchased and lovingly renovated the hotel to modern standards.
2006 - October 2024: Harald Schweighofer (tenant) and Marion Plott were the hosts, and the establishment was renamed "Kirchenwirt."
From November 2024: The operation has been taken over by the Vienna hotel chain L7.

Reception opening times: from 8 a.m. If the reception is not occupied, the restaurant will take care of it.

Rest days: We are usually closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Depending on the reservations, it can also be other days. Arrival and breakfast is of course also possible on the rest day. Please let us know your planned arrival time when booking.
