During the winter months, due to the weather, access to the hut is only possible by prior arrangement. The hut can be reached on foot or with our shuttle for an extra charge.

Spend an unforgettable time in the wild and romantic forest lodge KOSAK, located at about 1,300 m above sea level at the foot of the Thalerkogel, just a short drive from Trofaiach.

This hunting lodge is a true jewel in the Styrian Alps. It stands right on the edge of the forest and offers absolute peace and seclusion.

The hut is accessible via a private forest road. In the cozy farmhouse parlor you will find a large corner bench and a table stove, which provides cozy warmth. A wooden staircase leads to the upper floor with 2 futon beds. On the first floor there are also 2 beds.

In front of the hunting lodge an inviting wooden veranda with a view of the Thalerkogel and a fireplace invite you to linger. Here you can perfectly barbecue, sunbathe or simply enjoy a beautiful sunset.

Next to the hut is a rustic toilet house, which offers all the necessary amenities.

The Thalerkogel is known as a lookout point between Trofaiach and Tragöß. From here you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the imposing Hochschwab massif, the majestic Eisenerzer and Fischbacher Alps as well as the impressive Gleinalpe.

Up to 3 months before arrival date - free cancellation possible
Up to 1 month before arrival date - 40% of the total amount booked
Up to 1 week before arrival - 70% of the total amount booked
Up to 1 day before arrival - 90% of the total amount booked
On the day of arrival or in case of early departure - 100% of the total amount booked.

In case of force majeure, a change of date can be made free of charge according to availability.

Terms of payment:

100% of the total amount at the time of booking.

Dogs are not allowed in the hut
Mountain biking is not allowed on the forest roads
Smoking is prohibited in the hut

Room details

The cottage has a small kitchen with a traditional table stove, which serves not only to prepare food, but also to heat the room. A cozy corner bench invites you to eat together and offers enough space. The kitchen is equipped with the necessary equipment such as dishes, cutlery, pots and pans to prepare simple meals.

On the first floor of the cabin there are two beds. The upper floor offers two futon beds that provide additional sleeping accommodation. The beds fit the traditional and simple style of the hut and provide a cozy sleeping environment.

The hut has its own outhouse located nearby.

Outside the cabin there is a sitting area with a fire pit. Here guests can spend social evenings enjoying the fire, sharing stories, or roasting marshmallows. The fire pit is a cozy place to experience nature and create a warm atmosphere.

Overall, Cossack Cabin offers simple but comfortable accommodation in the middle of nature. It is ideal for people who are looking for a break from the hectic city life and want to enjoy the beauty of the surroundings.
