Styrian Fire Brigade Museum Art & Culture
In historical museum architecture, the exhibition collection with modern media provides a look behind the scenes of the Styrian fire brigade. Absolute highlights are the extensive helmet collection and the vehicle halls with the popular vintage cars. Fire and art unite in an "explosive mix" throughout the season. Contemporary art and cultural exhibitions provide a foretaste of Styrian cultural events as well as the history of foreign cultures.
The museum has been awarded the "Museumsgütesiegel" of ICOM since 2002 and in 2009 also received the CTIF seal of quality for fire brigade museums.
Styrian Fire Brigade Museum – Art & Culture
How did the Romans fight burnings? Which magical spells were used in the middle Ages against flaming harassment? And how are fire sources combated in the 21th century?
Altogether eight showrooms and two depots with fire brigade old-timers offer insights into the exciting history and changes of fire brigade.
Art & Culture
The fire of art is blazing in the museum during the whole season. The presentation passes from coeval styrian art to top-class international art and culture exhibitions.
Romans in Groß St. Florian
By excavating of a “villa rustica” in Grünau, a place near Groß St. Florian, an arrestingly part of Romans history in Styria had been developed. The most important corpus of finds is shown in the museum, among a very well kept silver cup.
